Damage near Saint Francis

On Thursday evening, one isolated severe thunderstorm in southern South Dakota brought strong winds near 60mph and hail.

About seven miles southeast of Saint Francis in Todd County, hail up to the size of quarters (1.00") was reported.

Then towards the east and north, the wind caused damage to an old barn where the roof was blown off. Just north of that location, numerous three-inch diameter tree branches were blown down, with some up to the size of six inches in diameter.

The wind was recorded at 59mph about seven miles southeast of Rosebud or a few miles north of the damage.

The severe weather reports stayed confined to Todd County, but another storm near Gettysburg did become severe thunderstorm warned, but no storm reports came out of it.
