The recent surge of warm air tied and broke records in parts of South Dakota.

SD Temperatures on Tuesday Afternoon.

On Tuesday, the National Weather Service Office in Rapid City matched its 1962 record high temperature of 65°F. Meanwhile, the Rapid City Airport surpassed its previous 1980 record of 64°F, reaching a new high of 67°F.

A weather system will bring strong winds and cooler temperatures for the balance of the work week, but we expect additional warmth for Christmas week, and some record highs might be jeopardized once again.
