A Few Storms Brought Hail and Wind

A few thunderstorms developed Thursday evening, and one isolated storm in west-central South Dakota brought large hail.
Hail the size of quarters (1.00") fell approximately nine miles northeast of Sturgis and also in Newell.
The region experienced intense thunderstorms on Wednesday night, with a thunderstorm wind gust of 64 mph recorded approximately four miles south of Rapid City. Additionally, a storm gust of 60 mph was reported five miles from Rapid City and at Ellsworth Air Force Base.
The area once again has the risk for isolated strong to severe thunderstorms, with hail and gusty winds being the primary threats.
