Today's Moisture to Help Wrosing Drought Conditions

Another round of precipitation will continue to move across the state today. Rain and snow are already falling in the west and are forecast to continue their track eastward throughout the day. The Black Hills remain under a Winter Weather Advisory this morning for additional accumulating snow. For more information on the advisory, check out our Alerts Page.

The precipitation chances will slowly come to an end by later this evening giving way to drier conditions on Saturday before another storm system bring more rain and snow to the region for Sunday.

Today, do not be surprised if you hear a couple of rumbles of thunder as a few thunderstorms are possible across the north. It is expected that a few developing storms may fire up by the early afternoon and then move eastward. Severe thunderstorms are not in the forecast for today.

This is great to see the moisture as the new drought monitor has increased from last week. All of western, South Dakota is under some type of moderate or severe drought. In the east, the abnormally dry has moved into the southeast, South Dakota, and moderate drought has sneaked eastward.
