The National Weather Service Office in Aberdeen placed Hand County under a Blowing Dust Warning for Sunday for severely limited visibilities due to blowing dust.

Persons with respiratory problems should make preparations to stay indoors until the storm passes. Be ready for a sudden drop in visibility to near zero. If you encounter blowing dust or blowing sand on the roadway or see it approaching, pull off the road as far as possible and put your vehicle in park. Turn the lights all the way off and keep foot off the brake pedal. Remember, 'Pull Aside, Stay Alive'.

The South Dakota Department of Transportation reported blowing dust with visibility near zero on US Highway 14 between Miller and Highmore on Sunday afternoon.
In addition to the blowing dust, the strong southern winds help increase temperatures well into the 80s and 90s and create dangerous fire weather conditions for much of the state. More dry, windy, and above normal temperatures are expected into the start of the work week.
