Chilly Start for 2026 in South Dakota

Today, a cold front will bring colder air across the region, with the lowest temperatures expected in north-central and eastern South Dakota.

Feels like temperatures are expected to drop below zero by this afternoon across the northeast, with teens below zero in the Sisseton area by mid-afternoon.

The southwest and into the Black Hills won't really feel the chilly weather, with afternoon highs in the 40s and 50s, but will drop on the first day of the new year.
