Travelers Could See Wintry Weather

A round of freezing rain and light snow could impact travelers heading home from the holiday. The National Weather Service has placed counties in north-central, northeast, and east-central, South Dakota under a Winter Weather Advisory.

The reason behind the advisory is the mixture of precipitation with the potential of ice accumulations, gusty winds, and over a couple of inches of snow near the South Dakota and North Dakota border.

By this afternoon, a band or light rain, light freezing rain or light snow is expected for the north and eastern regions of the state.

The continued chances of scattered light rain, freezing drizzle, or light snow will push into the evening hours.

By the overnight hours, the precipitation is forecast to move into Minnesota before the next round comes during the work week.
