There is a lot of weather to talk about this Saturday, so let's start with the heat.
Heat advisories are up for southern and eastern regions of the state as heat indexes (feels like temperatures) are forecast to reach the upper 90s to the mid 100s. It will still be hot in the west, just more of a dry heat as dewpoints will be less.
Also, chances for thunderstorms in the west today and later this afternoon in the east. The whole state is at risk of some of these thunderstorms being strong or severe, with large hail and damaging winds the main threats.
The highest risk for severe thunderstorms will be those in the "red," which is mainly along and north of SD Highway 34.
