Several communities and counties south of Sioux Falls have been closing roads due to flooding. In Canton, South West Avenue near the creek's bridge became closed on Thursday afternoon as water from the creek came out of its banks and flooded the street.
Over to Tea, a major road was shut down as the street went underwater. The Tea Police Department posted this picture on their Facebook page of 272nd Street. The department announced the closure was between Heritage Parkway and Summit Avenue.
The conditions are not any better out in the county. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office reported several roads flooded and closed like this gravel road in rural Lincoln County.
The area is under a Flash Flood Warning, as heavy rain has already fallen, and additional rain is expected to increase water levels and cause flooding.
