Prepare for Extreme Winds with Warnings Posted

High Wind Warnings and Watches, along with Wind Advisories, are in effect mainly for Wednesday, Wednesday night, and some areas into Thursday. Gusts ranging from 50 to 75 mph are expected, creating hazardous conditions across South Dakota.
This evening, gusty northwest winds will blow at 25 to 35 mph, with some spots in the far northeast experiencing gusts up to 45 mph. These winds will calm down overnight but will pick up again from west to east during the day on Wednesday.

High Wind Warnings
A High Wind Warning has been posted by the National Weather Service for counties in the western half of South Dakota.
Wind Gusts from 60 to 70mph are expected, with even stronger gusts as high as 75mph, hurricane-force winds for the northwest.
