A typical spring storm over the northern plains brought a mix of snow and slippery road conditions in the Black Hills, as well as a tornado warning in Omaha, Nebraska.

Strong thunderstorms have popped up south of us in Nebraska, dropping hail to the size of golf balls (1.75") southeast of Omaha. This same storm prompted a tornado warning, but at this time, there have been no reports of damage.

Back home, wintry weather has created hazardous travel conditions in the Black Hills. The Pennington County Sheriff's Office shared these pictures on their Facebook page during Thursday afternoon.

The Custer Fire Department confirmed similar conditions in the southern Black Hills as those reported by the South Dakota Department of Transportation on Thursday evening. They noted that numerous main roads had scattered slippery areas around Blue Bell, Custer, Custer State Park, Hill City, Keystone, Mt. Rushmore, Nihart, Sanator, and Spokane. The latest South Dakota road conditions can be found at sd511.org.
