Southwest SD Sees Large Hail

As July begins, active weather persists with strong to severe thunderstorms bringing large hail from the Black Hills to the plains of southwestern South Dakota.



Golf ball (1.75") size hail was reported about one mile south of Cactus Flats near Interstate 90, and again about 12 miles northwest of White River. Hail to the size of half dollars (1.25") was reported three miles south of Cactus Flats.



One-inch hail, the size of quarters, dropped from severe thunderstorms just outside of Rockerville in the Black Hills, over near Hermosa, in the Fairburn area, and down by Kadoka during Tuesday evening.
