The holiday weekend brings chances for showers and thunderstorms along with the risk for strong to severe thunderstorms as well.
Warmer air will push northward and into our region later this week. Along with warmer temperatures, dewpoints and humidity levels will gradually increase by this weekend. There will likely be a number of fronts in the region that will help with thunderstorms development.
Friday starts out our risk for severe thunderstorms as the northwest may see a strong storm or two.
By the weekend, the chances for severe thunderstorms then spread across South Dakota covering much of the western and northern regions of the state.
Sunday the risk of strong to severe storms then moves into the southeast, South Dakota along with good parts of Minnesota and a few parts of Nebraska and Iowa.
The timing of thunderstorms and locations is still uncertain and these severe thunderstorm outlooks are likely to change in the coming days as more data comes in. Please keep checking back with DakotaRadar for the latest.
