High Wind Watches are up for western and central South Dakota for Thursday and Friday, as strong northwest winds gusting up to 75mph are expected.

By Thursday morning, gusts up to 40mph are forecast across the northwest, spreading south and east by mid-morning. By late morning, the northwest may see gusts up to 55mph, which will continue to increase as the day goes on.

These strong winds are expected to continue on Friday. A couple of spotty hits of snow showers are forecast as well, and with the strong winds, pockets of reduced visibility are possible.

The high winds may damage roofs, small outbuildings, and signs. Power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. For additional details visit weathersd.com/wxalerts
