Wind Damage, Power Outages, and Small Fires in Western SD

Strong and destructive winds, equivalent to those of a severe thunderstorm, caused damage and power outages in western South Dakota overnight.
The Custer County Sheriff's Office shared these photos on their Facebook page Thursday morning, stating that there have been widespread power outages throughout the county, along with fallen trees and power lines. The agency also mentioned that a few small fires have started due to the downed power lines.
Semis traveling were no match for the powerful winds as law enforcement was called to this rollover crash on the northbound lanes of State Highway 79 in Custer County near Hermosa.
