Winds Cause Issues on South Dakota Roads

In South Dakota, the winds tossed around everything from leaves and patio furniture to trailers. The South Dakota Highway Patrol shared this photo on their Facebook page of a trailer being blown over by the strong crosswinds.

Unloaded or lightweight trailers are prone to turning over in strong winds. Thankfully, safety chains were properly secured.

The National Weather Service on Sunday reported winds gusting up to over 60mph in a few locations. Just outside of Ree Heights in Hand County, a wind gust of 62mph was reported at 10:08am CDT. Up over by Andover in Day County, winds of 60mph were reported, and towards the west by Java, a 58mph wind gust was recorded.
