Snow is expected to develop late this evening (Friday) across the northwest and north-central region of the state and spread into northeast SD during the overnight.

Already, snow has started to accumulate in parts of north-central South Dakota, and powerful wind gusts up to 68mph in the west have been recorded.

Thunderstorms formed and swept across South Dakota on Saturday night, bringing more damaging winds to the area.

More thunderstorms are expected this holiday weekend, this time in western South Dakota. Thunderstorms are possible this afternoon, with an isolated strong to severe storm not ruled out.

One isolated severe thunderstorm dropped large hail as the storm continued its track into North Dakota on Sunday morning.
