Authorities in Northeast, South Dakota Warn About Open Burns

As continued dry and warm weather stays in the region, fire dangers across the state remain high.

The Grant County Emergency Management reported a trash burn had gotten out of control and spread to nearby dry brush during Monday afternoon. Fire crews from the Big Stone Fire Department responded to the area to put out the fire. The fire burned a couple of acres.

The Emergency Manager warns without snowpack there is a lot of dry vegetation as fuel for fires.
