The weather for the weekend of Christmas does not feel like the end of December as temperatures in South Dakota are well above normal and record-breaking.
At the Sioux Falls Airport, the mild temperatures on Saturday night set records. With a temperature of 53°F at around midnight, a record-high temperature was officially broken for today (Christmas Eve, December 24th). Then the temperature increased to 56°F increasing that record again at 6:08am CST. The old record for Sioux Falls on Christmas Eve was 50°F which was set in 2021.
On Saturday, Aberdeen broke a record that was set 130 years ago in 1893 with a record high temperature of 56°F.
Besides temperatures, a record-high dewpoint of 52°F was also set breaking the old record set in 1942 for Sioux Falls.
