On March 10th at approximately 5:20 pm, a serious accident unfolded in the Presidential District of Deadwood. A single vehicle rollover trapped two individuals inside the overturned car, creating a dangerous situation that required immediate action. Thanks to the swift response and teamwork of Deadwood Fire & Rescue, Monument Ambulance, Deadwood Police Department, the City of Deadwood Streets Department, and Sunshine Towing, both occupants were safely rescued and treated on scene.

The call came in just before 5:30 pm, alerting Deadwood Fire & Rescue to a rollover accident with trapped individuals. The location was the Presidential District, where slick conditions were found and likely contributed to the crash. First responders arrived quickly, assessing the scene and prioritizing the safety of the trapped occupants.
Firefighters immediately worked to stabilize the overturned vehicle to prevent further movement that could endanger the victims or the rescue team. The windshield was carefully cut out, allowing safe access to the individuals inside. This precise and calm approach ensured the occupants could be removed without causing additional injury.

The slick road conditions presented a significant challenge. Ice, snowy, or wet surfaces can cause vehicles to lose control and complicate rescue efforts. The Streets Department’s quick response to treat the roads helped prevent additional accidents and provided a safer environment for emergency personnel.
The area will see additional snow as a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for parts of the weekend, where four to ten inches of snow is expected.
