Persistent Rains Continue

A weather system continues to pump showers and occasional thunderstorms up and over the low pressure in south-central South Dakota.
Heavy rain at times caused flooding in parts of east-central and northeast South Dakota, where a Flash Flood Warning was issued. In and near Estelline, over two inches of rain fell in a short period of time on Wednesday morning. A MADIS weather station in Estelline recorded 2.22 inches, and in Dempster, a personal weather station recorded 2.10 inches of rain since midnight.
Rain looks to remain in the forecast throughout Wednesday night and into Thursday. Some locations can easily see an additional one to two inches of rain by Friday morning, with pockets of localized higher amounts.
