An additional focus for today will be northward as thunderstorm development is expected, with severe weather likely in North Dakota. A few of these storms could spill into the northern regions of South Dakota, bringing the risk for large hail and damaging winds, but you cannot rule out a tornado, which is possible with these storms.

Best Chances for Seeing Severe Storms:

Northwest, SD - Daytime into Evening Hours

North-Central, SD - Evening into Overnight Hours

Northeast, SD - Overnight Hours

Then the risk comes back for Friday as a cold front will push through the state. Large hail is possible with these storms, with chances of very large hail in the far northeast corner of the state (Britton and Sisseton Areas). Damaging winds are possible with these storms, along with an isolated tornado risk, mainly across the northeast.
