Snow Accumulations and Issues on Roads

A couple of weather systems gave us a taste of winter, dropping temperatures and snow. A few locations in the northern Black Hills and over to southeast South Dakota saw amounts ranging from a couple of inches to nearly five inches for the first part of the weekend.

With winter officially reminding us of its arrival today, we want to encourage everyone to buckle up, and have the necessary safety items in your vehicles for winter travel.

Motorists on Saturday found highways to be slippery and snow-covered from overnight precipitation. This crash near Main and Burnham in Deadwood shows emergency personnel working to clear the road in the snowy conditions.
