A number of Blizzard Warnings, Winter Storm Warnings, and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for parts of South Dakota today and tomorrow. For the latest information about the warnings or advisories for your South Dakota location, please check out the Forecast Pages at WeatherSD.

This afternoon, snows are expected to continue across northern South Dakota, with rain to the southeast and isolated to scattered wintry mix in the southwest. The rain/snow line is expected to move northward as the afternoon progresses.

By this evening, we could see a few thunderstorms and rain showers for the southeast with a mixture of rain or snow or freezing rain for east-central and south-central, South Dakota. Mainly snow in the far north and west. Precipitation in the southeast is expected to intensify.

As we push into Monday, snow continues across central and the northeast, with rain or a mix of rain and snow in the southeast. By Monday evening, snow will start to come to an end as the storm system pulls away from the state and will be completely moved out by Tuesday mid-morning. The winds will increase for Monday, with gusts up to 50mph possible, creating areas of blowing snow and reducing visibilities.

Snowfall forecasts have dropped since the last update as a few more locations may see additional ice accumulations instead of snow, and some moisture has been robbed from thunderstorm activity towards the south.
