Showers and thunderstorms ahead of the front look to impact the center and eastern sections of the state. You cannot rule out a strong thunderstorm main along Interstate 29 and eastward for Friday. As the system continues northeast, cold air is expected to filter into the system, changing the rain over to snow. Snow accumulations are still up in the air as their model disagreement on how much will fall.

The American (GFS) model is the boldest, with heavy snows across the east and the highest amounts in the northeast.

The Euro (ECMWF) and Canadian (GEM) models continue to show more rain than snow, and little or no snow accumulation is expected.

As before, the winds are expected, with models continuing to show strong wind gusts. The American (GFS) has winds up to 60-65mph, whereas the Euro (ECMWF) brings those down to 50mph.
