Those who live and are traveling in southeast, South Dakota saw dense fog during Thursday morning.
In Sioux City, Iowa, the dense freezing fog moved into the region before 4:00am dropping visibilities at the Sioux Gateway Airport to only a quarter of a mile. At Le Mars Municipal Airport, visibilities were down to 0.15 of a mile at 6:00 am CST.
This dense fog has spilled into southeast, South Dakota with SDDOT cameras showing the dense fog over Interstate 29.
Driving in dense fog can be dangerous, so if you are traveling in this area, please keep these safety tips in mind...
Slow down and allow extra time to reach where you are going.
Use your low-bean headlights and fog lights. (Don't use high beams)
Keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you.
Use the lines on the highway to keep you on track on where you are on the road.
Keep your windshield cleared and use wipers if need be.
