A quick hit of wintry precipitations will move into South Dakota on Thursday. Different types of precipitation are expected, from rain to freezing rain to snow.

The amounts of snow will be the highest in the southeast, with amounts from one to three inches (light blue areas) by Friday morning.

With the mixture of precipitation, you cannot rule out any light ice accumulations in a few locations of the south or east. After this system moves out, dry conditions are expected for the New Year's weekend.
