A cold front pushed across the region on Thursday brought a few isolated strong to severe thunderstorms by Thursday evening.
A couple of these storms dropped hail near the Watertown area. The first report was about 3 miles southeast of Rauville where half dollar size (1.25") was reported. The next report came in about five miles south of the Watertown Airport where penny size (0.75") was dropped from the storm. Then over to Castlewood (image below) and Clear Lake, hail to the size of dimes (0.70") fell from a severe storm.
These storms continued into Minnesota during the evening hours with one isolated report of quarter size (1.00") reported in Madison, Minnesota.
Behind the cold front, cooler temperatures and pockets of welcome rain, and a few storms continued through the overnight and into Friday.
