The onset of severe weather in South Dakota resulted in strong, damaging winds and power outages in parts of east-central South Dakota on Saturday morning. South of Badger, power lines were reported blown over, causing outages in nearby communities, including Lake Norden, Hayti, and Castlewood.

This storm also caused several trees to fall in Brookings County, prompting emergency responders to be called out due to roads being blocked by trees near Bruce, Volga, and Brookings.
On the Hamlin County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, a deputy sheriff's dash camera caught a lightning bolt on SD Highway 28 near Bryant. According to the agency, no significant damage was reported in that area.
