Tornado near Henry

Thunderstorms developed across northeast South Dakota on Sunday afternoon and quickly became severe, with large hail, strong wind gusts, and even a tornado. A violent tornado was reported about seven miles northeast of Henry in Codington County and stayed on the ground for several minutes. The tornado could be seen miles away.

The tornado damaged a structure while it was on the ground in Codington County. The tornado lifted as the storm slowly moved south and east, bringing heavy rains, flooding, hail, and damaging winds.
