Several tornadoes, including strong ones, developed on Saturday evening in Deuel County, northeast South Dakota.
Thunderstorms started to develop over Hamlin and Deuel Counties and then quickly became tornadic as they slowly moved eastward. A storm chaser on Interstate 29 in Hamlin County reported a funnel cloud about three miles northeast of Claremont Colony. Several other reports of funnel clouds were reported west of Clear Lake before the first tornado of the evening developed.

Near Tunerville, trees were blown over and an abandoned structure was hit by the tornado. This storm and tornado continued into Minnesota with reports of a tornado on the ground by Lake Cochrane and Canby, Minnesota.
